Terms of Service and Flight Operations Policy
Operating guidelines and training requirements for students, renters, and visitors of Triad Aviation Academy at Piedmont Triad International Airport (KGSO).
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using the services, training programs, aircraft, facilities, or website of Triad Aviation Academy ("Academy", "we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, all applicable laws and regulations, and agree that you are responsible for compliance with any applicable local laws. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing our facilities, fleet, or training services.
2. Flight Training & FAA Compliance
All flight training and ground instruction conducted by Triad Aviation Academy are performed in strict compliance with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) Part 141 and Part 61. Students must comply with all FAA guidelines, including maintaining a current FAA Medical Certificate when required, obtaining a student pilot certificate, and passing necessary TSA background checks (for US and international students alike) before solo flight or enrolling in specific courses.
3. Scheduling, No-Show, and Cancellation Policy
Flight training requires scheduling aircraft and flight instructors in advance. To maintain efficiency and fair access for all students, we enforce a strict cancellation policy:
- Cancellation Window: Students must cancel or reschedule booked flights or ground lessons at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time.
- Late Cancellations & No-Shows: Failure to cancel within the 24-hour window, or failing to show up for a scheduled booking, will result in a fee equal to the scheduled instructor time and/or a flat rate aircraft reservation charge.
- Weather & Maintenance Exceptions: Flight cancellations due to adverse weather conditions, safety concerns, or unscheduled aircraft maintenance will not incur any fees and will be rescheduled without penalty.
4. Safety, Student Conduct, and Grounding
Safety is the primary core value of Triad Aviation Academy. Instructors and Academy management retain absolute authority to ground any flight, cancel lessons, or suspend student training at any time for safety-related reasons. Unsafe operations, reckless behavior, failure to follow checklist procedures, pre-flight checklists, or showing up under the influence of medications, alcohol, or illicit substances will result in immediate termination of the training agreement and permanent expulsion from the Academy.
5. Aircraft Rental & Student Liability
Students and renters utilizing Academy aircraft are responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle as Pilot in Command (PIC) or under the supervision of a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). Renter pilots must maintain a current flight review and meet all Academy currency requirements. We strongly recommend that all active flight students and renters carry Non-Owned Aircraft Insurance (Renter's Insurance) to cover potential deductibles and liability in the event of an incident or damage to the aircraft hull.
6. Billing, Financing, and Refunds
Payment is due at the time services are rendered unless prior financing has been arranged and approved. Triad Aviation Academy accepts major credit cards, checks, and third-party financing through approved lenders (such as Meritize and Stratus Financial). For block-rate packages or funds deposited directly on account, unused balances are refundable upon written request, subject to a processing fee and the recalculation of previously flown hours at standard retail rates rather than discounted package rates.
7. Third-Party Links & PSI Testing
Triad Aviation Academy is an authorized PSI FAA Testing Center. While we host testing facilities, all testing guidelines, registration, and fee processing are managed directly by PSI Services LLC. We are not responsible for testing scheduling errors, scoring disputes, or policy changes implemented by PSI or the FAA. Links on our website to third-party scheduling tools, financing applications, or reference materials are provided for convenience, and we hold no liability for their content or operations.
8. Governing Law
Any claim relating to Triad Aviation Academy's website, training facilities, fleet operations, or services shall be governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action arising from services rendered shall be filed in the state or federal courts located in Greensboro, North Carolina.
